Not because he is scared of needles (trust me, he\u2019s used to them). But because he is a blood cancer survivor. The rules say he can\u2019t donate.<br class=\"html-br\">Here\u2019s the irony: He never actually needed blood during his treatment. But his cousin, Adam, did.<br class=\"html-br\">They battled blood cancers at the same time. While Joey skated by without transfusions, his cousin needed them constantly. Aunt Alison lost count of how many bags of blood it took to keep Adam safe.<br class=\"html-br\">We know it was strangers\u2019 blood that helped save Adam\u2019s life.&nbsp;<span class=\"html-span xexx8yu xyri2b x18d9i69 x1c1uobl x1hl2dhg x16tdsg8 x1vvkbs x3nfvp2 x1j61x8r x1fcty0u xdj266r xat24cr xm2jcoa x1mpyi22 xxymvpz xlup9mm x1kky2od\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"xz74otr x15mokao x1ga7v0g x16uus16 xbiv7yw\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tb9\/2\/16\/1fa78.png\" alt=\"\ud83e\ude78\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\"><\/span><br class=\"html-br\">We are hosting this blood drive, wanting to &#8220;refill the bank.&#8221; We want to give back what our family borrowed.
